A Wireless Beam Sensor is a security device that uses an infrared beam between two or more units — typically a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter sends an IR beam to the receiver and if the beam is interrupted (for example, by a person walking through), the receiver detects the break and triggers an alarm or sends a signal wirelessly to an alarm/control panel. Because it’s wireless, there is no need for running cabling between the two ends, making installation easier in some scenarios (gates, fences, long corridors, perimeter protection). The housing is usually weather‑resistant so it can be used outdoors.

Description

A Wireless Beam Sensor is a security device used for perimeter protection, gate safety, or intrusion detection. It consists of a transmitter (beam emitter) and a receiver (beam detector) that establish an invisible infrared (IR) beam over a span. If the beam is interrupted (by an intruder, vehicle, or object), the sensor triggers an alert or sends a wireless signal to a security control panel, gate motor, alarm system, or other monitoring device.

Because it is wireless, there is no requirement for physical wiring between the transmitter and receiver (or to the panel), which simplifies installation and reduces infrastructure cost. These sensors are designed to operate in outdoor conditions, with weatherproof housings, and often include features to reduce false alarms due to animals, light, or environmental changes.

Property Typical Value / Range
Detection range (distance) 30‑60 m or even up to ~100 m in open line‑of‑sight conditions outdoors. Mtech - Best Electronics in Kenya+2GUNMANSA+2
Beam configuration Single beam or dual beam. Dual beam tends to reduce false alarms (two beams must both be broken). Mtech - Best Electronics in Kenya+2GoldSupplier+2
Wireless frequency Often 433 MHz (or similar for remote wireless alarm systems) for transmitter → receiver / alarm panel communication. GoldSupplier+2GUNMANSA+2
Power supply Battery powered (sometimes rechargeable or solar assisted), or DC input (e.g. 12V DC) for both transmitter and receiver. GoldSupplier+1
Current consumption Low standby current (often µA‑mA range), higher current when transmitting / in alarm state. GoldSupplier
Output / signal Usually a relay output (Normally Open or Normally Closed) for alarm, possibly wireless signaling to a control panel. Some models have tamper or masking detection. GoldSupplier+2Mtech - Best Electronics in Kenya+2
Operating temperature / environment Quite wide: from around ‑20 °C up to +50/60 °C depending on model. Weather protection ratings (IP54, IP55, etc.), resistant to dust, rain, sometimes to insects. patsecuritysolutions.co.ke+2GUNMANSA+2
Installation / mounting Adjustable brackets, ability to align beam properly (horizontal / vertical adjustment). LED indicators often provided to help with alignment. Weatherproof housing. patsecuritysolutions.co.ke+2Mtech - Best Electronics in Kenya+2
Response / trigger time Fast — usually tens to a few hundred milliseconds.
